Hook | UPS CPD Day | 2026

Designed for Engineers who would like to improve their UPS knowledge, this free-to-attend CPD day will cover in-depth technical information related to UPS systems for mission-critical applications.
What CPDs will be included:
Designing Resilient UPS Systems – To begin the day, you will learn about designing resilience, true N+1 with DPA UPS Systems, how to configure a UPS battery system for resilience and be provided with a checklist for this. This section will then be concluded with a Q&A session.
Emergency Lighting (1 or 2 hour options) – Will cover risk, responsibility, and competence through a Standards & Legislation overview, while also covering the types of emergency lighting and the importance of lighting levels. This section will also go into detail with regards to design decisions when taking these responsibilities into consideration. This section will be concluded by considering system integrity, central suppliers, system documentation, and records.
Using UPS as Safety Services Secondary Supply – Here you will look at why UPSs are being used as well as considering the standards, regulations, guidelines, and fault clearance in accordance with BS:7671. You will then be shown the types of load used for life safety and the considerations required for this. This section will end by looking at the battery types, management, and monitoring, followed by installation and maintenance.
How to Specify a UPS – The day will close by looking at important reflections when selecting a UPS; such as UPS standards, environment considerations, ratings and efficiency, topology, redundancy, batteries, and testing.
